This time we choose to explore Dhanaulti - a tinsel town and hill station near Dehradun. With everything planned we checked out for a change. After spending two days in Dehradun we decided to visit Dhanaulti, a lesser known hill station just about 66 km Kms ahead of the capital city.
We drive through the beautiful valleys and lofty mountains to reach Dhanaulti. Just an hour drive and we were at this place. Quiet environs amidst green hills and varied flora and fauna, Dhanuti is simply amazing. Once in Dhanaulti do not miss to explore its beauty and richness. With scenic beauty, it provided us with all kinds of amusement that we were looking for. For all those traveling in the group to Mussoorie, it would be wise to choose this place to stay. Dotted with hotels and restaurants it costs less and is also away from the hustle bustle of Mussoorie main town.
Though it is not an easy task to visit all the famous spots of the city within a day, a well-planned itinerary can help a lot in covering most popular options of them. Keeping this in view we also chose to visit the selected locations of Dhanaulti. First in our list was Dhanaulti Eco Park which is one of the main attraction of Dhanaulti. From the park one can enjoy the panoramic view of the entire Dhanaulti and nearby areas. The park houses a small forest containing Deodar Trees. You can also enjoy adventure sports. With the play area for kids, there is an entry fee of Rs 25 For Adults and Rs 10 for Children.
Once in Dhanaulti, you can also visit Surkanda Devi Temple, Terhi Dam & Lake, and Kanatal. Located 8 km from Dhanaulti, Surkanda Devi Temple is dedicated to Goddess Sati and offers trekking opportunities to the adventure lovers. Tehri dam is about 25 km from Dhanaulti. Once you reach Tehri dam get ready to being enchanted with the serene beauty of this place. Spread over the vast area, this dam is home to various species of birds. As you move on, the world of beautiful birds welcomes you in lush green surroundings.
After lots of sightseeing, you can enjoy shopping in local markets and shops of the city. Local bazaars are flooded with beautiful artworks, paintings, handicrafts, bangles and lots of other unique stuff. Thanks to these shopping hot spots from where one can buy hand-woven shawls, stoles, scarves of wool, silk and other locally made hand-loom products.
