Road Trip from Dehradun to Mussoorie
Mussoorie, another hill station like Dehradun lies at a distance of 37 kilometres and takes around 36 minutes to reach by hired cabs, buses or even private cars through Mussoorie road, via Chironwali, Garhi Cantonment and Karwan Gaon. Driving on this little stretch is an amazing experience worth hitchhiking for travelers although Mussoorie can be directly accessed from Jolly Grant Airport at a distance of 24 kilometres from Dehradun. Yet the beckoning of the snow capped hills and the mystic ambience and lush greenery of the terraced slopes and gushing water of the Alaknanda River beneath in the valley adds a raw appeal to the journey.
This endearing journey from Dehradun to Mussoorie can only be experienced in a private car or a hired one as cramped buses or shuttles plying on this route won’t allow a traveler to get down and halt midway to capture the landscape spread out before one’s eyes. Moreover there’s an added bonus with a night stay in Mussoorie. Night view of Dehradun in the valley below from a hotel nestled in the hill slopes of Mussoorie will look like a handful of gemstones and glittering gold scattered across. The view is breathtaking amidst the night sky; much akin to heaven.
All of the thrilling experience is enabled due to magnificent road construction which ensures a smooth passage from Dehradun to Mussoorie and further ahead, which was unthinkable even 100 years ago when travelers had to endure a lot of hardships to scale these heights. Bridging the Gap has been a worthy endeavor indeed.
