Another way of traveling to Dehradun is by hiring a private car or cab from Delhi, which is an easy journey of just 4 hours. Other major cities that are easily accessible to Dehradun by car are Haridwar (54 kms), Agra (382 kms), Kedarnath (270 kms), Nainital (297 kms) and Shimla (221 kms).

You can also travel by hiring taxis through the taxi stand located at Railway Station and City Bus Stand. If you are good at bargaining, you can hire unmetered Auto Rickshaws from any part of the city. You might have to negotiate for the fair as they often quote high rates.
However, above all, the best way to get around the city is by walking. It is the cheapest and the greatest way of exploring the city as you get to experience the entire charm of the city at your own leisure and pace. Moreover, it does not take more than half and hour to walk around Dehradun.
